ঝমঝম বৃষ্টির দিন শেষ। মাঝে মাঝে এক আধ পশলা পড়ছে ঠিকই, কিন্তু আকাশ প্রায় পরিষ্কার - একটা খুশি খুশি নীল রঙের জামা পড়ে ফেলেছে। জলভরা ছাই ছাই মেঘের ফাঁকে ফাঁকেই দেখতে পাওয়া যাচ্ছে পেঁজা তুলোর মতো সাদা সাদা শরতের মেঘ। যদিও এখনও খুব গরম, তবুও সকাল বেলার ঝকঝকে, সোনালি রোদ বেশ ভালোই লাগছে। বাগানে ফুটছে গোলাপি-বেগুনি রঙের দোপাটি, হলুদ কল্‌কে। আর সন্ধ্যাবেলা ? পথ চলতে চলতে হটাত করে ভেসে আসছে মন কেমন করা শিউলি ফুলের গন্ধ। ভোরবেলা সেই সাদা-কমলা শিউলিগুলিই ছড়িয়ে থাকছে গাছের তলায়, সবুজ ঘাসের বুকে। পাড়ার মোড়ে, অথবা স্কুল যাওয়ার পথে হঠাত করে চোখে পড়ছে বাঁশের কাঠামো। কিসের বলতো ?- কিসের আবার - দুর্গাপুজোর মন্ডপের ! - পুজোর যে আর মাত্র কয়েকটা দিন বাকি ...
