The Contender "The Next Great Human Drama" is a forthcoming reality TV series to be broadcast on an Indian TV channel. The Indian television program is a franchisee of the American TV series format of the same name, produced and aired originally by NBC in 2005. ESPN and later Versus picked up the rights in later seasons. The Indian incarnation is produced by Bulldog Media & Entertainment and Percept Picture Company.

The format involves competing boxers living in a common facility and participating in elimination boxing rounds along with coverage of their personal relationships and lives.

The soundtrack of The Contender is composed by Hans Zimmer. In an unfortunate incident, contestant Najai Turpin committed suicide in Philadelphia on February 14, 2005. The corresponding episode of show was, however, aired, with a sensitively produced tribute to Turpin. The original show was hosted by Sylverster Stallone at one point.

The Indian version will be hosted by Vijender Singh - the Beijing Olympics Bronze Medalist, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award winner and a top ranking middle weight boxer.
