Jeet, Koel Mullick, Sanjiv Dasgupta, Parambrata Chatterjee, Biswajit Chakraborty, Dilip Roy, Susmit Mazumder, Subhasis Mukherjee, Dr. Ramdittya Roy, Ashok Kumar, Bharat Kaul, Shymal Dutta, Pradip Bhattacharya, Rupa Bhattacharya, Aloknanda Roy, Shanghamitra Banerjee, Bharati Devi, Moushumi Shaha, Mimi Dutta and Laboni Sarkar. Somewhat similar (at least in the first half) to the 1994 Bollywood blockbuster musical Hum Apke Hain Kaun, director Prabhat Roy got positive points for the lavish scale and depiction of Bengali wealth in the film. Most Bengali films have a middle-class or poor oriented backdrops. In terms of the story, the movie stands on its own in the second half.
Subhodrishti is a joint production of Rajshri Films of HAHK fame and Sri Venkatesh. The release date in Kolkata was Nov 4, 2005 - following a host of innovative television commercials inviting everybody to a wedding on Nov 4, as you may remember.

Official Synopsis of Shubhodrishti
'Shubhodrishti' is an emotional saga of a young couple torn apart by destiny, however the strength of their love triumphs over fate.
Nikhilesh Ghosh is the head of the village's most respected family and lives with his three sons, Barun, Arun, Dr. Ramen and a younger brother Animesh. Animesh is married to Pratima and they have a son Raju.
Subimal is the head of the neighboring village's most respected family. His household consists of his wife Jaya, son Soumen, daughter-in-law Kabita, two daughters Deepali & Sonali, grandchild Rupa and his old mother.
The two families come together on the occasion of Subimal's elder daughter Deepali's marriage to Nikhilesh's elder son Barun. Amongst these celebrations Arun (Jeet) the younger brother of the groom loses his heart to Sonali (Koel), the sister of the bride.
The two young lovers receive the approval of their parents and as the whole family once again gathers to rejoice, destiny intervenes to turn the joyous celebration into a melancholic silence. Arun loses consciousness at the altar and the ugly hand of fate pushes him into a medical emergency.
The families now face the dilemma of calling off the marriage but the strength of the true love of Arun and Sonali brings Arun back from the clutches of death.
